Welcome to the Potions Classroom

Hello and welcome! There are 2 professors now for Potions, Professor SuanHP (Linda) and her partner Professor Aeri Song, a long time assistant in the class. We find the study of Potions to be quite exciting, and I hope you will too.  Your professor SusanHP (Linda) Will be teaching OWL?NEWT while Aeri Song will be taking over years 1-4. In this class we will begin with the basics and work our way up to learning about ingredients we use, brew potions, experiment with some aspects of potions, through your creating a new Potion that we have never seen by your NEWT year should you choose to take the class that far. We expect you all to put some effort into your lessons. Sentences should be of a sufficient length with correct spelling and punctuation. In other words, when we ask for well thought out sentences, we expect them to have more than 3-4 words.  For many of your lessons, at least 2-3 well thought out sentences for answers can mean a better grade.  While I do not ask for a minimum number of words in this class, we are not opposed to seeing more than the required number of  words or sentences in any work submitted.  Brewing instructions should be in your own words, not a direct copy from any source.  This is a chance to be creative in writing out directions. All OWL/NEWT should show more effort in the lessons than years 1-4 and as such, I expect to see at least 200 words per task.

If you have any questions about the homework, PLEASE PM the appropriate professor in advance of the work being due. If for any reason you need an extension on your work, let one of us know.  Extensions are not something that will be granted easily with the new system of fewer lessons for each year. Waiting until 11PM your time Sunday night the end of the 4 weeks, will likely not get you the answer in time!  We am not unreasonable, but waiting until the last minute will make it impossible for us to grant you an extension as it looks like you waited until the last minute to do the work and ran out of time. With the new format for lessons, there really is no reason you can not get the work handed in by the end of each 4 week period of time. Failure to post the required work by the end of each 4 weeks could result in you being moved to inactive status.

A reminder for all students. Your homework must be submitted no later than midnight your timezone to receive house points unless you have talked to one of us ahead of time.
