Muggle Studies

Welcome to Muggle Studies

I am Professor SusanHP or Linda, and I hope you are ready to explore the world of muggles.

At the OWL and NEWT level, I expect to see more effort put into your work. A few simple sentences will not be enough to earn a top grade. More time should be spent researching  each assignment.  If you have any questions or are having trouble understanding the assignments, please don’t hesitate to ask either by PM or by stopping by my desk on the first floor. I do not expect you to write a novel for each lesson, I am looking for the details, not a lot of explanation that doesn’t really add to the work. As such, you do not have to hand in work that is pages long, or have huge word counts. If you have any questions about the work, PM me, I will gladly help you. I would like at least 500 words for each task. More would not be frowned on, but again, you do not need to write a novel, just be sure you are answering the questions with enough detail so I know you understand each lesson.

The required books can be found at Flourish and Blotts, Home Life and Social Habits of British (and American) Muggles, for those taking OWL, and  Muggles Who Notice, for NEWT level.  The books are  in Obscurus and are  readable once you have the passwords. It is strongly recommended that you purchase the books before class begins, as assignments are based from them. No house points will be awarded for late homework because you are missing the book or the passwords.

Week  7 will be a Role Play lesson where you get to head to London for the OWL  Students.   If you would prefer to not take this trip, PM me and I will post a lesson for you.

Task 1 for NEWT is due by the end of week 4 with tasks 2 and 3 due by end of week 8.  There is no exam for NEWT class.

Have fun learning about the lives of Muggles!
